Start with player count
Set the number of people who will actually join. For two players, compare dedicated two-player games with games that support a wider group. Both can work; the interaction and pace may feel different.
Use time as a guide
A listed duration is an estimate, not a promise or the turn timer. Learning, reading cards and waiting for friends can take longer. For a short session, choose something familiar and leave time to finish.
Keep a small, useful shortlist
In BGA Pocket, search the library and combine player and duration filters. If nothing fits, relax one filter at a time. Use favorites for games you want to return to and recent games for familiar choices. Open the game details to look for learning resources before creating a room.
